Book a ConsultationWhy Feed Tags Don't Tell the Whole Story
Feed tags tell you what went into the bag.
They don't tell you what your horse absorbed, what's accumulating in their tissue, or what's being depleted faster than it's replaced. Two horses on identical rations can end up in very different places.
Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis for Horses
HTMA measures mineral levels in mane or tail hair. Because hair grows slowly, the sample reflects mineral status over a period of months — not a single moment. That longer window makes it useful for seeing patterns: deficiencies building gradually, mineral ratios drifting out of balance, or accumulation that a one-day snapshot would miss.
How Equine HTMA Testing Works
-
Sample collection
You collect the hair sample at your barn. Clear instructions provided — no special equipment, no vet visit required.
-
Lab analysis
The sample goes to the lab for a full mineral panel.
-
Review consultation
We go through the results together. What the minerals are showing, what's likely driving it, and how it connects to what you're seeing in your horse.
-
A plan you can actually use
Specific feed and supplement recommendations built around their results and their current ration.
Worth Testing If You're Seeing
- Persistent hoof quality problems
- A dull or slow-shedding coat
- Weight that won't shift in either direction
- Unexplained changes in energy or performance
- Chronic inflammation
- Recovery that's taking longer than it should
Equine Nutrition Services
Bodywork and nutrition services are not a substitute for veterinary care. They do not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, and are not intended to replace the care provided by your horse's veterinarian (DVM).
Nutrition and Bodywork, Together
Bodywork addresses what's happening in the tissue. Nutrition addresses what's feeding it.
For horses dealing with chronic inflammation, slow recovery, or a topline that won't build, the two work better together than either does alone. Muscle needs raw material to rebuild, and no amount of hands-on work substitutes for what's missing in the diet.
If you're local to the Enumclaw region, nutrition work pairs naturally with in-person bodywork.
Virtual Consultations, Nationwide
Equine nutrition consulting and HTMA testing are delivered virtually. Sample collection happens at your barn, consultations happen wherever you are, and the plan comes to you the same way.
No travel, no scheduling around a service area — just a conversation and a plan.
